Candidate: Antonette “Toni” Perry
I have called Gladstone home for 24 years, and as a longtime homeowner, I have a personal connection to the community and a strong interest in its future.
My professional life has been centered on public service. I spent nearly 10 years as a 911 dispatcher, a position that required calm under pressure, careful listening, sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to make important decisions when people were depending on me. I then spent 16 years working in the Office of the Trial Court Administrator of the Clackamas County Circuit Court, where accuracy, fairness, confidentiality, and impartiality were essential.
Together, those positions provided 27 years of experience working in environments where integrity, accountability, and responsible decision-making mattered every day.
I have also owned two businesses and earned an Associate Degree from our local community college. These experiences have given me perspectives from public service, the courts, small business, and life as a Gladstone homeowner.
My approach to city issues is independent and nonpartisan. I believe a city council benefits from having members with different experiences and perspectives who are willing to ask questions, consider alternatives, and respectfully disagree when appropriate. Consensus is valuable, but agreement should come from thoughtful consideration rather than simply accepting a proposal because it is presented.
I believe city resources should be carefully evaluated and prioritized according to the community's needs. Public expenditures and potential tax increases deserve scrutiny, with consideration given to who benefits, who pays, and whether the expenditure represents a responsible use of limited resources.
I also believe Gladstone's small-town character is an important part of what makes this community unique. Thoughtful decisions about growth, development, services, and local businesses should take into account their effect on the people and neighborhoods that already make Gladstone home.
